Semantics of Assertions

• Definition of a topic map assertion:

  • Topics playing roles in typed assertions, where the type of assertion determines the roles to be played.

• The dots are:

  • Role players (topics)
  • Roles (also topics)
  • Assertion types (of course also topics)

• Each dot (topic) can be given a Published Subject Indicator (PSI) that defines its semantics

  • PSIs are published at stable, advertised locations
    • e.g. Uplift Academy
  • PSIs are a form of bibliographic uplift
